Our Mad Scientists discovered the result of mixing Vinegar, Washing-Up Liquid and Baking Soda today.
(Much to their surprise, by the looks on their faces & the squeals of excitement that could be heard through the school!)

The pupils took inspiration from
the artwork of the famous artist Pablo Picasso
to create some scary looking Picasso Monsters.

Lots of different layers of coloured card, and various  embellishments created the desired effect.
Don't they look fantastic!! Very appropriate for this spooky time of year!

The Future looks 'BRIGHT' at St. Michael's N.S.

This week our budding electricians experimented with  making simple electrical circuits using a 1.5v battery to light a 1.5v bulb.
Not content with that, they then went about exploring whether or not a 1.5v battery could power two 1.5v bulbs & they discovered that in fact it could, although the bulbs glowed much more dimly.
Picture
Still not satisfied, they then set about seeing if they could blow the 1.5v bulb by putting too much power to it. They added two batteries to the circuit, (3v) and observed that the bulb glowed very brightly, but it did not blow.  So they added another battery to the circuit, (4.5v) and observed that the bulb  was extremely bright at this stage, but it still didn't blow.  The class decided at that stage to allow the bulb to  survive.

A very fun lesson was enjoyed by all & we can be confident Rackwallace will have no shortage of electricians in the years to come!
