This week our budding electricians experimented with making simple electrical circuits using a 1.5v battery to light a 1.5v bulb.
Not content with that, they then went about exploring whether or not a 1.5v battery could power two 1.5v bulbs & they discovered that in fact it could, although the bulbs glowed much more dimly.
Still not satisfied, they then set about seeing if they could blow the 1.5v bulb by putting too much power to it. They added two batteries to the circuit, (3v) and observed that the bulb glowed very brightly, but it did not blow. So they added another battery to the circuit, (4.5v) and observed that the bulb was extremely bright at this stage, but it still didn't blow. The class decided at that stage to allow the bulb to survive.
A very fun lesson was enjoyed by all & we can be confident Rackwallace will have no shortage of electricians in the years to come!
