The PTA ( Parent Teacher Association) of St. Michael's reflects all that is good about our school. We are parents and teachers of the school who give time and effort to make sure our children get the very best out of their time in St. Michael's.
Our meetings are always fun and we manage to get a lot of work done in a friendly way. Because we are all working towards the same aim; we have no trouble working together.
We also help each other. If one person volunteers for a particular task they do so knowing that every other parent in the school can be called on to give them a hand.
Since it's foundation, 15th November 2006, many of us have had a chance to serve as chair or treasurer and we have all benefited from the experience, but not as much as our children have benefitted.
The primary role of the PTA is to improve and enrich the education of the pupils of the school.
Wherever you look in our school you can see the hand of the PTA: from the super interactive boards to the fun and laughter at our annual sponsored walk.
The PTA reflects all that is good about St. Michael's. We are hard working, good humoured, friendly and have a good sense of fun.
The PTA is an important element of the essential link between home and school.
It affords parents more involvement in their children’s education.
It provides an opportunity for parents and teachers to communicate effectively.
Aims:
1. To promote the interests of the pupils in co-operation with the B.O.M., Principal, Parents, Teachers and Pupils.
2. To advise the Principal or B.O.M. through Parent’s Representatives on any matter relating to the school.
3. To adopt a programme of activities, in consultation with the Principal, which will promote the involvement of all parents in the
operation of the school and in their children’s education.
4. To follow rules governing meetings, business and conduct of affairs.
5. To adopt a set of strategies to be followed in the organisation and running of fund-raising events.
Committee of the PTA:
Over the past number of years the PTA has assisted with the annual enrolment/open day, provision of an official school banner, carol singing in local shopping centre, introduction of healthy eating policy and updating of road signage for St. Michael's N.S. It has also made a financial contribution to a number of services and repairs within the school and assisted with the introduction of new programmes and resources for both classrooms.
Parents receive notification of all PTA meetings and are invited to submit items they may wish to have included on the agenda. All parents are updated on important decisions taken at PTA meetings in "Newsletter" which is issued regularly.
