St Michael's National School is a small rural school nestled in the tranquil countryside of Ardaghey in the townland of Rackwallace.
Established in 1933, the school is steeped in history and has witnessed many changes over the 80 years it has served the community. The school has retained the traditional exterior appearance which very much compliments its setting, yet internally it is furnished and equipped to contemporary standards and is being continually upgraded in this regard.
Adjacent to the school is the ancient Rackwallace graveyard which dates back many centuries and features in many historic publications. The school is also in close proximity to Castleshane Woods which was a landlord estate and home to the Lucas family with a history dating back to the 16th century.
At present the school has two mainstream Class teachers, a Learning Support teacher (based in the school and shared with neighbouring schools) . It also employs a Secretary and Caretaker on a part-time basis.
